No Game No Life is a popular anime based on a light novel that was released in 2014. Well known for its stunning visuals, interesting concept, and ‘suggestive’ content, many people await No Game No Life’s 2nd season. But many fear that day may not come as it has been 9 years since the release of the first season as of writing this post and nothing has come to light about the second season.
Plagerization
No Game No Life has been accused of plagiarism multiple times. Starting with the one in the anime, in episode 7, a magic circle can be seen in one scene that seems to have been stolen from a Pixiv user.
The Pixiv user named, Ikkakujuu (unicorn) posted an image on Twitter of the original photoshop file that was available to download on Pixiv.
Luckily for those who worked at the studio, after profusely apologizing and changing the magic circle for later releases, the original artist had this to say:
Everyone makes mistakes. People who can admit their mistakes and reflect on them will be able to grow. Therefore, everyone, please cheer them on. What’s most important in this incident is not just the fact that things were taken without permission: It’s that the practice of “taking with no repercussions” was a practice in the creation process that almost took root as a sample for other creators. Even if I get money for this, it wouldn’t improve the industry. Everyone is more assured when the company admitted its mistake and apologized, right?
While this may have been a setback this would not single-handedly hold back the production, as it seemed that the artist wasn’t interested in pressing charges.
The author of No Game No Life is sickly, so when creating the story, he had initially planned on putting it into a manga like his previous work. Instead, he chose to do a light novel due to his complications. The author was accused of tracing when releasing one of the light novels.
This was cleared up to just be “pose copying” which is somewhat common in the field as people use other art as references for posing all of the time.
Health Issues
In 2011 Yuu Kamiya (pen name of the author of No Game No Life) was diagnosed with stomach cancer. He has said that he has focused on light novels as they are better for his treatment.
He has claimed to slow down as the case of his health issue getting worse.
A few years ago Yuu Kamiya was involved in a car crash and had to return to Brazil(his home country) to recover.
His health might be in better situation than earlier on though as on a twitter post recently he claimed to get 1000 hours of work done in VR Chat.
Me: “Over 1500 hours of VRC play time”

Tomo: Have you ever wondered how much you could do in 1,500 hours?
Me: “Well, I was working more than 2/3 of the time, so I feel like I could write a novel, a doujinshi, and a few illustrations in about 1,000 hours.”
Tomo: “Sorry, it wasn’t the playstyle I expected. Forget it.”
In general, he has been posting to his Twitter more often, averaging 5-6 posts a day. While most of these posts seem mundane to those who only care about No Game No Life, he seems to be doing better and has mentioned things that may relate to No Game No Life.
Overall
Yuu Kamiya has said that he has finished three manuscripts recently, so it’s likely that another light novel volume is to release soon.
3 color manuscripts… I finish one more and it’s black and white, so it feels like there’s some details left… I can slow down a bit…

The anime and movie cover up to volume 6. So another season could possibly cover what is currently available or they could be waiting until they could make a full season of 24 episodes instead.
Nothing has been mentioned lately, so it is a good idea just to read ahead in the light novels which have been translated into English.
